St. John of the Cross is actually an early middle ages figure, a mystic and a monk. He wrote profound works about the soul's journey toward God, the most famous of which is "The Dark Night of the Soul."
I don't know how I choose what to post - normally when a quote like the one here posted appears in my readings, it just strikes me as so profound that I need to share it. The saints that have gone before, I think, have said it better than I could ever hope to!
And this, my dear friend, is why we are friends...your love of the saints rivals mine! Well, I guess there are other reasons we're friends, too...but this one makes us kindred spirits!
